Why Ishant Sharma, Irfan Pathan went unsold in the 2017 IPL Auction??

IPL Auction 2017 came with a bit of surprises as Ben Stokes and Tymal Mills the 2 English Players fetch a lot cash but 2 well sounded Indian International Players Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma went unsold this season.
Here is a details Analysis for this surprise:

Ishant Sharma: Ishant is a key part of India's Test squad but has not featured in any of the limited-overs sides for a over one year now. His last appearance in Twenty20 internationals was long back against Australia in October 2013.

Reason: It is believed that Ishant's high base price was the reason for finding no buyers at the auction which saw teams gunning for young turks and in-form players.

"Ishant Sharma shouldn't have kept his base price at Rs 2 crore. Firstly, he doesn't play for India in T20s and not considered a white-ball bowler. He is only playing Test cricket. Ideally, he should have shed his ego and kept his base price in the range of Rs 30 lakh. Varun Aaron gained just because of that even though Ishant probably has more quality," an IPL team top boss, who was at the auction table told PTI on Monday.

Irfan Pathan: Irfan Pathan got a reality check of a different kind in this year’s auction. Last time In the 2016 IPL, he played only one game for Rising Pune Supergiants. Following the end of the IPL, Irfan was plagued by injuries and a dip in form with both bat and ball.

Reason: Irfan may feel hard done by but a drop in pace, not being the biggest of hitters and plagued by injuries in the past year was a reason why no franchise showed interest in him.

Irfan Tweeted for his fans:
“In 2010, I had undergone 5 fractures in my back. The physio had told to me that I might now be able to play cricket ever again and should rather give up on my dream. At that point of time I told him, I can bear any pain but cannot the bear the pain of not playing this beautiful game for my country.”

Stating that he has gone through the tough grind before Pathan wrote, “I worked hard and not only played cricket again but made a comeback to the India team. I have faced many obstacles in my career and life but never gave up, that’s the character I have and will possess.”  Thanking his fans for their never-ending support Pathan promised that he would get through this hurdle as well.
